Psychological Evaluations
Immigrating to a new country and adapting to a new culture can be a very stressful experience. This stress can further compound when the immigrant and their family navigate the complex immigration process.
What Is a Psychological Evaluation?
As part of the immigration court process to determine lawful residency in the United States, a psychological evaluation is conducted.
This involves a comprehensive interview that lasts between 2 to 3 hours, where I will inquire about your immigration case, personal, marital, and family history, work and education history, legal history, and medical and psychiatric history. In some instances,
I may also speak with other individuals with relevant information for this evaluation. I aim to gain an understanding of any mental health concerns related to extreme immigration hardships.
Psychometric Scales
As part of my evaluation of you, I may request that you participate in psychometric assessments. These may include questionnaires related to post-traumatic stress, assessments of your personality, measures of depression and anxiety, surveys on partner violence, health inventories, and potential malingering symptoms.
